Lyon & #ISHF2019
Our Planet, our Cities, our Homes
Following the inaugural edition hosted by the city of Amsterdam, the International Social Housing Festival travelled to Lyon in summer 2019 to continue its success. Making the link between the homes we live in, the cities we inhabit and the overall quality of life for, the ISHF 2019 aimed through a series of diverse events on the one hand to highlight the importance of access to decent housing for all, while on the other hand to celebrate the long tradition of public, cooperative and social housing across the globe and recognise the need to adapt our systems to meet current and future housing challenges as the human and economic costs of neglect grows.
A key outcome of the International Social Housing Festival was the ‘Lyon Commitment‘ in which key actors on the housing arena joined forces at different levels in ‘A New Deal for Housing’ and showed how the EU can lead the way with an affordable Housing Action Plan 2019-2024.
In conjunction with the “History of Social Housing in Europe” exhibition organised by USH – L’Union Sociale pour L’habitat, Housing Europe and AVS – Asociación Española de Gestores Públicos de Vivienda y Suelo, organised a celebration of more than 100 federations and social landlords, active for 100 years and more.
The Festival also proved to be an excellent occasion to host the third edition of the Responsible Housing Awards which saw a recordbreaking number of 87 submissions across five categories from 16 countries. The jury members had a tough decision at hand but in the end, everyone is a winner in the responsible housing community. In this Handbook you may find out more about all 25 projects of the winners and the and the finalists.
