How to get to Helsinki?
Helsinki, set by the beautiful Baltic Sea, is an easy access city – you can travel to Helsinki by plane, boat or train and the easily manageable city center is only a short commute away from the airport.
Most international airlines offer direct or connected flights to Helsinki, and Helsinki Airport is a modern and easy airport to navigate. The airport is located just outside the city boarder, and travel from the airport to the city center is quite easy.
How to get from the airport to the city centre by train:
Commuter trains I and P (see link for schedule) are a fast and convenient way of traveling between the city centre and the airport. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes. From the train station at Helsinki Airport you can walk directly to your terminal without having to go outside. To get to or from the airport, you will need an ABC ticket.
Single tickets and day tickets can be purchased using the HSL mobile app (follow link to download application) or from HSL ticket machines, R-kiosks and many other sales points (see link for list of sales points) throughout the city. Tickets cannot be purchased onboard commuter trains.
How to get from the airport to the city centre by bus:
Finnair City Bus (follow link to Finnair City Bus website) operates between Helsinki Airport and the city centre (Elielinaukio) every 20 minutes and takes around 30 minutes. Single tickets can be purchased online in advance or from the driver. Bus 615 (“Lentoasema-Rautatientori”) and bus 415/415N (“Lentoasema-Elielinaukio”) also operate between the airport and city centre.
To get to or from the airport, you will need an ABC ticket, which you can purchase from HSL ticket machines, HSL mobile app (follow link to download application) or from the driver in cash. Tickets purchased from the driver are slightly more expensive than other single tickets.
How to get to city center by taxi:
The journey between Helsinki Airport and the city centre by taxi takes approximately 20 minutes and costs around €40-45. As taxi fees depend on the chosen taxi company, you may want to check the price estimate as you choose your taxi at the terminal.
